STORY JUMPER: BECOME A PUBLISHED AUTHOR

I will introduce very creative tool which is storyjumper for our students. My very lovely friends Hüsna and Kıymet presented this tool in our class and I really loved it.

The first step to publishing your very own tales is to register on the StoryJumper site. This is easy and quick, and once you verify your email, you are all set to start a book!

If you need inspiration, simply click on the green “explore” bubble on the menu, and check out some of the other books created.

Once you have an idea, start thinking about a catchy title, the setting, the action, and the characters. If you are stuck with writer’s block, fear not! StoryJumper offers a step by step helper to get you writing.

For each page, you pick a scene (background), add “props” (images) and write text. You can also load in your own photos.

Once your book is complete, the sharing process is really easy. The site makes money if you buy a gorgeous printed version, but you can also print your very own free paper copy.

You must really introduce this tool to your students. It is very creative because thanks to this , they will get pleasure from creating something on their own. They will think english, learn new words when creating stories, may reinforced some grammar rules.

Thanks for reading, please comment, share your ideas or tools you know.

 Read Write Think : TIMELINE

Creating a timeline with Read, Write, Think includes some simple clicks, and typing in your information to create an eye-catching visual representation of anything! Simple enough for adults and children to use!

Hİ, everyone
It has been a long time that I am not here. but today I'll share really useful tool that is timeline. My lovely friend Sevilay and I presented this tool in our class.

Timeline  can be organized by time of day, date, or event, and the tool allows users to create a label with short or long descriptive text. The ability to add an image encourages students to create a visually appealing project.

Add, drag, and rearrange items as needed. Saving capability allows students to return to their work and make revisions. Final work can be shared via e-mail or saved to the device's camera roll.

Why do we use this tool ?

Help children plan a story or prepare for a special event, or let teens review memories and stories from the past. The Timeline tool allows them to create and organize events--real and imagined--and even add images to the descriptions. Saving capability allows them to come back to unfinished work, or they can share their final timeline with friends and family via e-mail.

Ideas to try

  • Looking the buid skills or create new habits? help children or teens make and manage a focused schedule and activities for a week.

  • After reading a book or story, review the events by helpin children put them in order. encourage them to record their reactions to enhance the view

  • Before a big event such as a family gathering or vacation, help children or teens plan what steps need to be taken to get ready. Ask them to keep track of the steps as they are accomplished.

  • you can want your students to create their one day using simple present tense.

steps of creating timeline

I really advice you to offer this tool to your students.

We made this video with Sevilay,to make easy to

BY DIGITAL STORYTELLING, MEET YOUR CREATIVITY

http://www.nrmedia.biz/blog/whats-new-wave-digital-storytelling-sports

Hello everyone, This week was very fruitful because, we made digital story with my lovely friend Hüsna. Our teacher has presented us three options which are demonstration of how to process, telling a story about friendship and fictional story. I chose fictional story with my friend.

Before mentioning how we made this digital story, I want to give information about digital storytelling and the program we used.

Digital storytelling is creating multimedia movies by combining photographs, videos, animation, sound, music, text and often a narrative voice.

In this project, we used Animaker which is a web page for online animation. It is really a useful program because we managed to do all parts of the story like choosing characters, background images, music and even voice recording.

how did we make our digital story?
First of all, we started to this project by writing a story. We took into consideration the age of the audience. As it is a child story, we used basic vocabulary. Then, we found the program and learned how to use it. We created the scenes one by one, added the background sounds and the narrative voice. Then, we shared it on Youtube.

When it comes to the difficulties of this project, we had really hard time while using the program as it is a proffessional program and it requires some information. However, once we comprehended the
program, we really enjoyed it.
Collaborative working enabled us to save time firstly as it was really a long project. Also, we came up with different ideas and it made this process easier.

My thoughts about digital storytelling;
I think, the students will be eager to making storytelling, ıt will really attract their attention beacuse even ı am 20 years old, when ı heard the project, I was really excited. It means they will enjoy their time and we all know that it is very important in education.

They can make digital storytelling in pairs so this way, they will learn group working, sharing ideas, respect others thougts, saving time, collaborative learning...

Of course, there are many benefits and advantages of making digital story but ı think you should try and discover yourself :) This way, you can understand me influentally.

This is our digital story, ı hope you'll enjoy it, please make comment, thank you.

          FUNNY WAY OF LEARNING ENGLISH

Hi everyone,
Last week in my last post, I have talked about one my favorite blog for teaching english but in this post, I am going to evaluate a website for learning and teaching english.

When ı search for interactive, helpful websites for english, I find out ABCya and I really love it. In this website you learn and reinforce english by educational games. Games are planned for each grade from kindergarden to 5th grade and the grade level categories are broken down by content categories : letters, numbers, holidays, more (shapes, social studies,art...etc).

Why did ı choose this website?
I am talking everytime especially in my country we use monotonuos strategies, classical styles and we know that profound effect of technology on lessons and students. These games really draw students attention and the peripheral learning happens because students without noticing not just vocabularies or grammar rules even math, basic skills are learned thanks to games like identifying colors, patterns, adding, subtracting, reading, and spelling...etc.

I do believe all target grade level would want to use this website since it allows them to play with other students. This is the other effective feature of this website , it enhances interaction of students.

  •  It’s not only computer base website, they are apps available on the iPad.
  • ABCya is a new website created in 2012 that has accurate and up-to-date information.
  • ABCya does not have any violence or combat games. Most games are animals and sports related.
  • The teacher can control the level that the user is playing.
  • There are games that allow the user to select the gender of the player as well as skin color. It also has games that focuses on the different holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah.
  • Students are given constant feedback while playing games which fosters understanding of concepts.
  • Games were created or approved by certified school teachers

I really recommend this website because

this website is  very helpful. I loved the different category options. As well as the different levels for each grade group and ı believe all students love the learning english by this way.

An example of one of the games, story maker.
