RSS: Really Simple Syndication

This week, I will introduce effective tool RSS, what it is, its benefits and a blog which is my favorite one for teaching english.

RSS is a format delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS  to whoever wants it. I use FeedReader but there are also different RSS readers. RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.

I want to talk about one blog which is Larissa's Language Studio. this is my favorite one because ı always criticize the monotonous lessons, classic style. This teacher uses various household stuff for teaching english such as drinking strawing when teaching grammar(countable/uncountable) or she uses ice cream sticks for exam of the tenses. as a teacher, We can make our lessons more attractive,funny,comprehensible. We should always search,find new methods,tools for our students.

WIKISPACE: A FILM REVIEW

Hello everyone!

This week I will share our wiki task which is about writing a film review for a school magazine. I worked with my lovely friend Hüsna UZUN. We introduce the film ‘Leon: The Professional’ and recommendations on it on a wiki page which is made by our lecturer.

During the writing part, we faced some difficulties such as finding an appropriate film and collecting documents and data.We experienced many advantages of working in pairs. we interacted with each other by receiving the opinions and ideas from each other.

Wikispaces is an open classroom management platform where teacher and students can communicate and collaborate. This wikis support the diverse need of the classroom, from project based learning, and event planning, to parent communication, and more.

I made up this story with Hüsna Uzun.

We created a sound rich story and narrated it together. This task is suitable for young learners as the vocabulary we used  is beginner level.

We actually had some difficulties as well. Firstly, you have to be creative when you are doing such a task. And you should take into consideration the level of students. Also, it may not be that easy to find the sound effects which is appropriate for the story. However, we enjoyed so much when we are making up this story and it probably attracts the students' attention. They can understand the importance of assuming a role. So, we recommend the teachers to try this experience because the teachers should apply different styles for teaching instead of classical styles.
